This essay aims to analyze the character “Medoro Madera” created by Rubén Blades, throughout different works, and to describe him as a starting point in traditional Cuban music and in which his salsa is nested, but from which he departs. With this we will inform the construction of the authorial position of Rubén Blades as a narrator of social motives through experimental music, this separation, in the case of music is essential to identify the act that claims the aesthetic project of “Cantares del subdesarrollo”.
