In the current context of higher education, student participation and engagement are essential for academic success. This article explores modern strategies for strengthening engagement in higher education and highlights three main trends
for analysis. First, the integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) has revolutionized the personalization of learning to the extent that it makes educational experiences more interactive and motivating. Second, competency-based learning (CBE) and hands-on experiences, such as internships and projects, have become key components in preparing students for the job market. Finally, the focus on students’ emotional and mental well-being is crucial, with institutions implementing counseling services and wellness activities to create inclusive and supportive learning environments. These strategies not only improve students’ mental health, but also increase their academic engagement and performance.
